Accurate measurement is a key element for the evaluation of many medical conditions and for the reliable diagnosis and efficient treatment of hypertension, especially in children and adolescents, in whom hypertension diagnosis may have lifelong consequences.
The HyperChildNET (Network for BP research in children and adolescents) COST Action is a multidisciplinary network formed by 24 countries and focusing on challenges affecting high BP in children and adolescents across Europe. The core of HyperChildNET is formed by a group of researchers pertaining to the ‘Working Group on Hypertension in Children and Adolescents’ of the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) who has been working together developing the previous ESH Guidelines for the management of high BP in children and adolescents with the involvement of other experts in the field.
The HyperChildNET Working Group on BP devices aims to benchmark devices for BP measurement in children and adolescents to use across the spectrum of different age groups and settings. In this scope we are launching a questionnaire on BP measurement in children and adolescents in order to assess current practices across European countries and highlight the gaps that need to be addressed to promote routine BP measurement and reliable diagnosis of hypertension in children and adolescents.
The results of the survey would be presented in a forthcoming meeting of the HyperChildNET COST action with representatives of the European National Paediatric Societies. We are hope to your active involvement in the actions of the HyperChildNET increasing awareness of hypertension in youth. The representatives of the Paediatric Societies would be acknowledged at the presentation/publication of results.
The deadline to complete the questionnaire is March 15, 2022.
